Rollerball vs. Ballpoint

EDIT: I received an aggressive email from Retro 51 and while I appreciate their products, their representative was not very kind in how they responded to me. Customer service is HUGE to me and if people are unkind, then I am not a fan no matter how great their products.

CORRECTION: I purchased the pen from a reseller who was WONDERFUL and has been a pleasure which is in their name. They accidentally sent the wrong ink and quickly and kindly corrected their mistake.

REMOVED: Link to the pen as I will not be promoting their pens going forward.

I ordered a fun new pen, and while I love the pen, their customer service of the penmaker was not kind so I will not be talking about the pen itself. I ordered this pen through a reseller. The pen I ordered was a rollerball pen, but the company accidentally sent a ballpoint ink. They have been wonderful to work with, but they accidentally sent me the wrong sized rollerball ink replacement for my new pen. I tried to get the ink to fit, but as you can see in the picture, the sizes are quite different. So, word to the wise, make sure your ink replacements are the right inks for your pen.

Rollerball is my favorite over ballpoint because of the smoothness of the ink. Rollerball is more of a gel, oil-based ink and ballpoint ink is water based and can sometimes dry up between uses and not look as fluid (pun intended). Rollerball dries quickly while you are writing and for my needs tends to look nicer on the page. All of this is personal preference.

Until next time…remember, every chaotic genius has a favorite, trusty pen!
